Prepare the Soil for Sod!

Before ordering sod, make sure your site is prepared.

Soil Preparation:

• There should be at least three to six inches of top soil.
• The area should be rough graded with gentle slopes away from foundations: a one-foot drop in 50 feet.
• Remove all debris that will interfere with turf grass root growth and water movement through the soil.

Immediately prior to sodding:

• Apply a starter fertilizer . Spread widely and work into the top one inch of soil. Use 10-10-10 or 19-19-19 fertilizer and follow package instructions for quantities.
• Rake the area to the finish grade.
• Light rolling will indicate and low spots or other irregularities to the area.
